General FAQs
General FAQs

My download doesn’t work:

a.  Make sure you downloaded the Mac Demo for Macs, and theWindows Demo for Windows.

b.  Make sure that you downloaded the entire file, and did not have an internet stall-out part way through the download process.

c.  Most of the Demo’s come in compressed format, as either .sit (Macs) or .zip (PCs) files.  You must have decompression software installed (standard on most computers) to unpack it.

d.  If you have Windows, and the download file is called: filename Install.exe it will/should self-extract for you, and place a short-cut on your desktop.

Windows is looking for a file called, “filename.dll”.

A:  Download and reinstall again.  The mysteries of Windows are beyond me.  Sometimes if you place the SermonBase folder on the desktop, this error will go away.

FAQs

How do I delete the Demo Sermons?

A:  To delete both the Demo Series and the Demo Messages in one shot, first go to Preferences and make sure that the option to “Delete Messages linked to Series” is selected to “Yes”.   Then click on the “Series” tab, and go to the Command Bar at the bottom of the screen.  Click on the button marked “Deletion”.  When the selection of deletion options appears, choose “Delete All”.  You will be warned that this option will delete both your Series and all the Messages attached to them.  Choose “OK”, and your SermonBase program will be cleared of all Demo messages.  (Warning: once you have done this, it is recommended that you go back to Preferences and turn the “Delete Messages linked to Series” option back to “No”, just as a safety precaution.

How do I import my messages into SermonBase?

A:  The answer to this depends on what format you have your messages in.  For most people this will mean that their messages are Word (.doc) files.  SermonBase does not directly import Word files, but you can import the names of your files. To get the most benefit from this, it is helpful to have your messages grouped into message sets, or series.  Then when you choose the import option, select the option for .doc files.  Give the series a name, and fill in the rest of the descriptor boxes, and select the folder containing your set of messages.  (If your messages are in chronological order, you can also choose the ‘AutoDate’ feature; otherwise, keep it turned off.)  When you choose import, all of the names of the files will be imported into SermonBase (but not the contents of those .doc files).  This will give you a list inside of SermonBase for your messages. To access the actual files, you have a couple of options. Using the “FileFolder” option (found under the “Goals” tab in “Messages), you can locate the file.  Then when you click on the image file of your message, your word processor will start it up for you.   The second option you have is to simply cut-and-paste your message from your word processor and drop it into the “content” box under the Message tab.
